Tim and James soaking up the sun at Burwood, in the beautifully landscaped grounds. Abit of a nip in the air, but not bad at all for July in Christchurch.
Tim has made lots of progress over the last week. Finally his trachy hole is completely healed. A big milestone. The mini trach tube was removed last Wednesday, and a week later the dressing is now history!
Typically there have been some more ducks and dives this week. The last two days Tim has been bed bound, tired and sore. He stopped some medication he didnt think was helping - and became super sensitive and sore. So he's got his answer and restarted it pronto.
On Tues Tim had an amazing session with his physio Kelly at he gym - 20 mins hitting a hanging ball with each arm, to the front and side. It was very impressive. But he pretty much wrote himself off for the next two days and was too tired to eat! Today he made up for it: tiger bread with salami and brie, bacon and egg pie and 8 pieces of sushi!!!!!!
Phil's 3 day visit was well timed to help brighten the days and to attend Tim's first major goal setting meeting with all Tim's team. About 12 of us were present: Tim, Phil, Viv, Kelly (Physio and Keyworker), Sam (OT), Maree (S/W), Kate (nurse), Heather (Dr), Tom (Psychologist), Mel (Kaleidoscope - career stuff), Shelley (Dietician), and Collin (ACC support co-ord on conference call). We're aiming for discharge date: Dec 3rd.
The days are full for me, providing encouragement in the gym, company on the low days, and creating delectables or buying fast food on the hungry days. I have had a lovely morning walking at New Brighton beach on Sunday, and now know my way to Northlands and The Palms shopping centres. And there's some wonderful families we're getting to know in the spinal unit.
Thanks for all the ongoing love, support and emails. Lol Tim and Viv xx
