Well what a week. Tim has finally made it to rehab. Yeah. And very nice it is too.
We arrived in Christchurch ICU on Thursday 2nd of July.
Five days later on Tuesday 7th we transferred once again by ambulance to the Burwood spinal unit.
Tim has settled in well and began with a slow weaning plan. Due to general well being he is now doing 12 hours a day off the ventilator. His last course of antibiotics is finished - so keep your fingers crossed and prayers going for ongoing progress in the week ahead.
Phil drove my car down to Wellington on Monday, and across to Picton for the night. After an early start he arrived at Burwood by lunchtime Tuesday. We enjoyed him sharing the settling in time, which resembled living in the middle of a railway station. Tim did manage to have a 10 minute out loud chat with him, before he flying back to Hamilton.
Tim with the team - his key worker Kelly the physio and one of the OT's (occupational therapist), both major players in his rehab programme. John on the right, came to adjust Tims wheeelchair - to further extend it. It was a second attempt as they hadn't believed the OT's initial measurements!
